that the information covered in these article is a critical part of getting the asthma knowledge to all those that need it.
The articles also demonstrated to me what my research should entail. Ultimately I thought the knowledge within the article
was appropriate for the material I need for research.

• Comment on the readability of this article.
The content flowed it gave one example of how research is conducted and it was easy to read and follow. The material covered
was broken down so that the lay and professional person could identify with the material. There was also a plug in the article
on what work still needs to be done pertaining to asthma research and educating the community.
• Course Topics covered:
The topic I chose is Comparing the quality of life between asthmatics and non-asthmatic child. These articles gave me insight
on what education needs to be done to get the asthmatic back to some state of normalcy. They also made me aware the asthma
is not just a concern for the patient and their parents but for all those that come in contact with the asthmatic on a daily
basis.
• Brief Summary:
The reason I have 2 articles is because the first one lead me to the second one. The challenge of improving the healthcare
literacy urges the asthmatic community to look into who gets educated about the disease. While the pilot Asthma program for
childcare workers, conducts a study with pre and post testing on the effectiveness of Asthma education to childcare workers.
The study included educational levels, race income and age of the persons attending the seminar was free to the invited guest.
There was also additional data collected which may prompt further research.
• Identify and attempt to explain three (3) terms, procedures or concepts that were unfamiliar to you when reviewing
this article.
1. My goal or concern was the patient and immediate family not all the persons whom come in contact or cared for the child.
I was enlightened to know that I needed to broaden my scope on who is worthy of asthma education.
2. I was unsure of what this course or the research project entailed, but after reading this journal projects I now understand
what I am trying to achieve. I think I know what needs to be included to make this research project worthy of publishing,
if not I will give it 110%.
3. I had not thought of polling or testing participants but now see this as a resourceful tool for obtaining data from all
parties involved and to test knowledgability.
• Detail the strengths/weaknesses of this article.
The strengths of the articles continue to campaign for education as the strongest tool in manageability of asthma. Education
was given on warning signs, action plans and nebulizer treatment. Although it is well know that the underprivileged population
is the hardest to reach this article provide hope that maybe word of mouth from a daycare provider may link the underprivileged
and the asthma educator together.
The weakness was in the pilot asthma education program. I did not understand completely the Cronbach’s alpha scale.
The scale examined the variances of each item in relationship to the variance of the overall scale. Further research is indicated
in order for me to understand this scale otherwise I was pretty much lost on this aspect.
• How might this article be useful to you in your further studies and career?
Well, since you asked, my goal post school is to become an asthma educator. I have worked as a respiratory therapist for 15
years and I am looking for graduation to be my catalyst into my own business. These articles are showing me how to reach that
unreachable community. I plan to use free seminars targeting daycare provides, school officials and then have business cards
available for any one whom wishes to set up private counseling. This has been my focus and dream for 3 years now and May is
my projected graduation. I need to muster up enough faith in myself and my ideas and put my feet to the ground. Wish me well.
• Does the article include a list of references/citations that can be used to find more information on the topics they
cover?
Yes, the articles have 37 references between the two.
